Job Description:

• This position will be responsible for planning and executing inbred increases utilizing worldwide Seminis resources.

• Monitor and evaluate the stability of FS increases and assure genetic integrity.

• Monitor Foundation Seed inventory levels and maintain current quality testing standards.

• Implement and evaluate purity trials using world wide Seminis capacity on all Foundation Seed material to ensure the genetic integrity of the seed lot.

• Establish and assure all quality guidelines are being met and assess material against benchmarks for producibility performance. 

• Perform a check and balance quality assurance function to assure that new material entering the system is free from genetic contaminants and variability.

• Monitor Stock seed inventory levels and quality status in order to prepare Foundation Seed for anticipated increases. 

• Expand on inbred line core descriptors in COVAR description database. This also includes maintaining the photo data base portion.

Required Skills:

• BS/MS in a scientific discipline and minimum of two years in related agricultural field.

• Experience and/or coursework in plant genetics

• Physically capable of working in field or greenhouse conditions

• Ability to supervise large seasonal labor crews.

• Detailed oriented and proficient in computer applications.
