POSITION:
Plant
Breeding Research Assistant, Tomato

The primary
responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

Assist the Harris Moran tomato
breeding program in all aspects of field trial design,
planting, evaluation, and seed harvest.

Supervise greenhouse
plantings, including managing plant culture and crossing
blocks.

Data entry and maintenance of
the breeding program database.
-
Supervision of crews in the
field and greenhouse.
-
Will interact with plant
pathologists, molecular biologists, microbiologists, product
development representatives and sales representatives.
Qualifications:
-
BS in plant science,
horticulture, or related discipline, with 3 - 5 years
industry experience or MS in related discipline, with 2
years industry experience.

Plant growing greenhouse/field
experience.
-
Supervisory experience.
-
This position requires an
non-smoker based on job responsibilities related to
greenhouses and the potential for Tobacco Mosaic Virus (TMV)
contamination
-
Fluency in Spanish a plus.
Skills required:
-
Must possess good
interpersonal skills.
-
Effective oral and written
communication skills.
-
Working knowledge of Microsoft
Word, Excel, and Access
-
Ability to travel domestically
and internationally.

be located in Davis, California
