Job
Description
The sales
agronomist will be responsible for managing NutriDense
hybrid and inbred line evaluation from Stage A6 to Stage
C7.
This will include managing and improving a strip testing
program for evaluation of A6 hybrids, providing information
and training about product placement to sales and marketing,
and coordinating strip plot, sales plot, and small plot data
related to advancement of lines and hybrids from Stage A6 to
commercialization.
The sales agronomist will develop data summaries and hybrid
profiles, coordinate and manage fall corn harvest tours
involving breeding, agronomy, and sales and marketing
personnel, and be involved with product training and support
for sales and marketing and seed partners.
This individual will develop and manage key relationships
between breeding and agronomy personnel and activities and
current and prospective NutriDense licensees.
In addition, the sales agronomist will provide support to
the agronomy manager and research agronomists for data
collection of hybrid performance in small plots as
required.
This individual will work closely with research agronomists
as hybrids are advanced from Stages A4 and A5 into Stage A6,
and with sales and marketing in the support of commercial
hybrid activities.
Principal
responsibilities of the position will include:

Coordinate the
advancement of candidate hybrids from Stage A6 to
commercialization by providing data summaries, data
interpretation, and advancement recommendations.

Design and
manage strip and sales plot testing and small plot hybrid
characterization trials of Stage A6 hybrids, and evaluation
and data analysis of small and large plot data from Stage
A6.

Provide data
summaries, data interpretation, hybrid profiles, product
positioning information, product training, and product
complaint support for A6 and commercial NutriDense hybrids
to sales and marketing and seed partners.

Provide small
plot data collection and hybrid evaluation support as needed
to research agronomists evaluating Stages A4 and A5.

Manage key
relationships between breeding and agronomy personnel and
current and prospective NutriDense licensees.

Provide
product placement and contract support to sales and
marketing for additional sales plot testing that sales and
marketing deems valuable.

Work
cooperatively with research agronomy and other functions in
any needed special agronomic studies (nitrogen use,
herbicide tolerance, density trials, equivalency trials,
parent tests, patent tests, etc.).

Continue to
upgrade job-related knowledge and skills through reading of
professional journals, attendance at scientific meetings,
both company-sponsored and external, and participating in
seed trade functions.
Qualifications
-
A Ph.D. in a
plant breeding, crop genetics, or agronomy-related field is
very desirable, and a minimum of an M.S. degree with 5 years
experience in such a field is essential.

Prior
experience in corn breeding or in corn hybrid evaluation, in
either a commercial seed company, university, or USDA is
required.

The sales
agronomist should have experience in hybrid evaluation and
advancement in both small plot and strip plot testing.

Prior
experience with plant breeding data analysis software,
hybrid advancement presentations, sales presentations, and
interaction with sales personnel and growers is required.

Excellent
verbal and written communication skills are necessary, and
the ability to work well with others on a wide range of
topics is mandatory.

Experience
with and knowledge of corn markets is desirable.
Self-motivation and the ability to work independently are
also very desirable.
