POSITION:
Wheat Breeder
Assistant
Spirou Group, founded in
1947, has a major focus on corn, cotton and vegetable seeds and
is dealing with breeding, research, production, development and
distribution of above seeds around Mediterranean region.
For our wheat breeding station, in
Greece, we are recruiting a wheat breeder assistant.
RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Supervision and implementation of the wheat (durum & soft)
breeding activities in Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Spain,
Turkey, Middle East and contribution to planning.
-
Trait
development wheat germplasm and parental line improvement
and creation and identification of new wheat crossing
combinations.
-
Production of nucleus and breeder seed and genetic purity of
materials upstream in the supply chain.
-
Management of the above activities on target, time, and
cost.
PROFILE
-
PhD. or
equivalent degree in Agricultural Sciences with emphasis in
breeding, genetics
-
Extensive
knowledge of wheat and experience in the farming and
production. Affinity with wheat and with field work is a
must
-
A minimum
of 5 years experience in breeding. Very good knowledge of
computer applications
-
Strong
communication skills, ability to operate in East
Mediterranean and Black Sea region.
Regular travel is required.
