POSITION:
Seed
Enhancement Specialist
We are looking for an enthusiastic
candidate for our location in Enkhuizen to strengthen our Seed
Technology department in the position of:
Seed Enhancement Specialist, EMEA (m/f, fulltime)
The job
The
candidate will be an integral part of the Seed Technology
Group, responsible for new product development and
conducting and analyzing multi-discipline research
experiments aimed at improving seed quality and
plantability. The individual will be capable of working
independently and in a group setting successfully. Travel
may be necessary on an occasional basis to Seminis
international locations (USA, Europe, Asia).
Your tasks and responsibilities
-
Function as a Scientist in the
Seed Technology Research Group WW aimed at developing
innovative enhanced seed technology products.

Conduct basic and applied
research on vegetable seeds in the following areas:
-
Seed Enhancement: priming
and invigorising technology
-
Seed Sanitation and
Disinfection
-
Seed Application
Technology: pelleting, coating, filming and adhesives
-
Seed Treatments:
application and loading of active ingredients
(insecticides, fungicides, biologicals, plant growth
activators)
-
Seed Cleaning:
conditioning & upgrading technology
-
Seed Quality Diagnostics
-
Using appropriate laboratory
tools and resources including germination chambers, plug
testing facilities, and analytical instruments to identify
measurable, distinguishing features and characteristics
during young plant development, as well as documenting
findings.

Explore opportunities with
technology suppliers, public research, universities in the
area seed enhancement.

Work with other functions in
the company to give expertise and support in the area of
seed technology.

Develop and/or optimize new or
existing seed enhancement protocols.

Write reports, summaries, and
protocols regarding experiments.
Your qualifications
Minimum: M.S degree with 5 years commercial experience
in seed research. Preferred: Ph.D in Seed Science &
Technology, Vegetable Science, Seed Physiology, or Plant
Biology.

Functional and technical
proficiency to include seed or other agriculture
experience
