Enza Coastal Seeds, Inc. in Salinas, California is looking for a
highly motivated, positive team builder with proven leadership
abilities.
Summary of responsibilities
1. Coordinating the
reception and storage of seed lots.
2. Preparing conditioning schedule.
3. Packing and shipping seeds.
4. Review and implement departmental procedures.
5. Facility management.
Brief description of
responsibilities and duties
1. Coordinating the
reception and storage of seed lots.
Coordinates the reception of seed lots and is responsible
for optimum (conditioned) storage. Performs all the
necessary or desirable quality checks, both upon reception
and during storage. Keeps computerized records of all
handling and treatment of seed lots.
Maintain an accurate and organized inventory. (Perform
routine cycle counts as well as quarterly inventory).
Run monthly germination report and pull and ship samples
for germ updates.
Maintain a clean, organized and safe warehouse.
2. Preparing conditioning schedule.
Prioritizing conditioning of seed lots.
Schedule for any outside conditioning or treating.
Pull raw, milled and sized samples for testing. (Germ,
LMV).
3. Packing and shipping seeds.
Packs seeds in the proper packages with the correct
printing and capacity, using a bagging machine if required.
Takes care of shipping of seeds to the customer and is
responsible for completing the documents necessary in this
process.
Takes care of processing of return shipments from
customers, as well as destruction of damages or unsalable
seeds.
Maintains packaging supplies inventory.
4. Review and implement departmental procedures.
Review and update current warehouse procedures.
Ensure that all departmental procedures are being
followed.
5. Facility management.
Manages the cleaning and maintenance of the building,
grounds and equipment.
Keeps in compliance with and abreast of all OSHA
regulations.
Contracts with and supervises all outside contractors.
Help develop and maintain the Company Safety Program.
Job profile
Education / knowledge
BS or associates degree with technical training in plant
engineering, or factory/plant maintenance.
Minimum 3-5 years of progressive experience and
responsibility in a maintenance field, 2 of which were
holding a supervisory position directing a multi-functional
staff.
Skills
Strong mechanical aptitudes and a working knowledge of
electrical and mechanical systems.
Excellent trouble shooting and diagnostic skills.
Ability to define problems and resolve them quickly.
Familiar with local building codes and OSHA regulations.
Familiar with all current health and safety regulations.
Requires strong supervisory skills, along with excellent
oral and written communication skills.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and situations.
Must be a self-starter who can work well with people at all
levels.
Requires intermediate computer skills.
Leadership
Supervise staff members working in the warehouse.
Performs the job duties independently, under the
responsibility of the VP of Seed Operations.
Working conditions
Sometimes works under pressure and frequently works with a
computer screen.
The work may involve physical stress when packages have to
be lifted.
The work is carried out alternately in a standing or seated
position during long periods.
