Research
Technician, Molecular High Throughput
(2 positions)
Location: Brooks, Oregon
Nunhems USA, Inc., a
world leader in the development, production and marketing of
hybrid vegetable seed and seed technology, is currently seeking
two Research Technicians, Molecular High Throughput to be
based in Brooks, Oregon. These temporary positions will have a
duration of one year, one position working 40 hours per week and
one working 15-25 hours per week.
As one of Bayer Crop
Science’s global bioscience companies, Nunhems has
emphasized quality in every step of their operations for more
than 150 years. The Research Technicians, Molecular High
Throughput, will be located at the company’s R&D facility in
Brooks, Oregon as members of an international team with
scientists in Bangalore, India and Haelen, the Netherlands. The
Brooks, Oregon research station also includes major activities
for North America in plant breeding, plant pathology, and Cell
Biology High Throughput.
Essential Functions

Preparation of solutions and general laboratory restocking
-
Perform
DNA extractions
-
Set up
and score PCR and real-time PCR reactions
-
Set up
and utilization of agarose and polyacrylamide
electrophoresis gel systems

Perform
above functions in a high throughput work capacity

Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel
-
Carry out
other activities and responsibilities as directed
Education and Experience
Requirements
Candidates must possess a Bachelors degree, or high school
diploma and suitable practical experience, in biology,
genetics, molecular biology, plant breeding or a related
field with experience of at least 1 to 3 years in a research
laboratory.
Job Knowledge and Skills

Experience in a laboratory or research setting beneficial

Practical
experience in performing and evaluating PCR reactions
advantageous

to follow detailed instructions and work independently and
as part of a team

Willingness and capacity to learn and acquire relevant new

Working Conditions
Work with
laboratory chemicals and other possibly irritating
substances. Long periods of standing, bending, twisting,
and/or sitting performing repetitive tasks. Ability to work
long and irregular hours when necessary and/or required.
