Role Purpose
Vegetable Product Development
Management in China, including not limited to people management,
operation management etc.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
-
Critical Experience:
o More than 6 years management experience in vegetable
product development or related
o Experienced in research projects management
-
Critical Knowledge:
o PHD or equivalent experience in plant breeding or relevant
plant science like Genetics & Molecular Biology
o Excellent understanding of vegetable research & marketing
in China
o Excellent management skill in research projects

o Excellent leadership & project management skills
o Excellent problem solving & decision making skills
o Excellent internal & external communication skills
o Excellent English & Chinese both in written & spoken
o Able to travel within China & abroad

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Job responsibilities:

Business responsibilities:
o Develop & maintain equipment and infrastructure of
vegetable product in China
o Comply with regulatory requirements of running a research
station and labs
o Lead vegetable planning activities, e.g. allocation of
land and plastic house space projects & following crop
rotations to prevent build up of disease as a result of mono
cropping
o Co-ordinate with farm consultants, vegetable breeders to
deliver efficient & cost effective farm operations.
o Co-ordinate with Vegetable Development Leaders, and other
departments ( PE, production and S&M) for pre-release and
post-release hybrids
o Active participation in the regional development
leadership team
o Participate with Vegetable Development leads to shape
local projects
o Implement performance assessment of the breeder with
vegetable development leaders
o Comply with technical and operational SOPs.

Administrative responsibilities
o Monitor the smooth farm / office operations, cost
effective of Veg. PD management.
o Compliance of legal requirements at PD locations.
o Strengthening manpower (including recruitments),
infrastructure & resources
o Facilitate for strengthening the gene bank and safety of
germplasm.
o HSE management in Veg. PD.

Financial responsibilities
o Put up all proposals for capital budget of expenses with
estimates for approvals to country
Vegetable Business manager and veg. regional PD head as per
project plan agreed upon.
o Prepare PD expense budget according to the relevant
estimates from all breeders, pathologist, farm manager etc.
o Budget control of Veg. PD
o Secure compliance to internal and external procedures in
line with internal and external audit requirements.
