Development Representative
Location: Deforest,
Wisconsin
Monsanto, an Ag industry
leader creating scientific breakthroughs around the world, is
seeking an individual to provide technical leadership for the
development and commercial growth of processing sweet corn,
peas, beans and pickling cucumbers products for Seminis in the
eastern half of the USA and Canada.

Responsibilities will include:
Development of New Products
-
Plan and execute field
trials to evaluate sweet corn, pea, bean and pickling
cucumber germplasm, focusing on product development for
processing markets.

Determine and demonstrate
the value, positioning, and agronomic fit of Seminis
pipeline products vs. commercial standards.

Actively participate in
the development of trials (from the development of
protocols to the analyses and reporting of data),
ensuring timely, high-quality data entry, analyses, and
reporting.

Collaborate with field
trials from breeding and sales teams.

Contract and coordinate
testing with key university programs and private
cooperators.

Ensure product stewardship
according to Seminis and industry best practices, and
regulatory compliance with Federal, State, and Local
requirements
Growth
of Commercial Products
-
Conduct and manage trials
in conjunction with Sales and Marketing to generate data
that support Processor products (features, advantages,
benefits, and associated marketing materials).

Provide product and
agronomic training for internal sales teams and external
seed, retail, and processing partners.

Build strong technical and
commercial relationships with key influencers including
academia, industry/grower groups, processors, dealers,
and top customers.

Bridge Sales and Research
to ensure market-driven assessment of new products and
technologies.

Support Sales with
performance inquiries that require specific agronomic
and product knowledge.
Required
Skills/Experience/Attributes:
-
MS required; PhD preferred in
agronomy, plant breeding, plant pathology, or
closely-related discipline.

Demonstrated success in
applied field research.

Experience with large-seeded
vegetable crops and/or processing is a plus (i.e. sweet
corn, peas, beans, cucumbers).

Strong written and verbal
communication skills.

Ability to successfully
perform in a fast-paced, dynamic, team-based environment.

Must be self-motivated and
assertive with a results orientation.

Proficiency with standard IT
tools.

Willingness to travel
The successful candidate must pass
a substance abuse test and background and driving record checks.
