Associate, Plant Pathology

Monsanto has an open Research Associate position in
Plant Pathology for a self-motivated individual with proven
ability to achieve results in a cross functional or team
environment.
The
successful candidate is responsible for the planning,
coordination and execution of greenhouse and laboratory
plant pathology assays. This includes the management,
evaluation, data collection and destruction of diseased
plants and soil in accordance with Monsanto regulations and
state law.
Additional
Responsibilities:

Troubleshoot assay protocols, collect and maintain inoculum.

Assist
with the conversion of Plant Pathology testing selection of
resistant traits to Marker Assisted Selection.

Develop
testing plans and schedule tests with breeding programs.

Coordinate planting with Greenhouse and Field Managers based
on test requirements.

Lead and
supervise a team of Lab Technicians and contract laborers.

Implementation of site wide Employee Safety and Health
safety guidelines.

Perform
other duties as assigned.
Required
Experience/Education/Attributes:
-
BS in
Biology, Plant Science or a related discipline with at least
two years of experience in plant pathology or agricultural
field work.

Years of
experience may be substituted with MS degree in Plant
Pathology.
