POSITION:  Research Associate, Solanaceous and Cucurbit crops

Location: Woodland, California

Seminis has an opening for a Research Assistant to produce seed for Solanaceous and Cucurbit crops.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing seed inventories, ordering seed from germplasm repositories, increasing seed under greenhouse and field conditions, performing required seed treatments, filling seed orders and distributing seed to Seminis locations worldwide.

  • Conducting standard pathology fungal disease screens for Solanaceous and Cucurbit crops under lab, greenhouse and field conditions.

  • Maintaining the fungal culture collection and diagnose plant diseases.

Required Experience/Education/Attributes:

  • Knowledge of MS Word and Excel.

  • AA degree plus 5 years of experience, or a BS degree.

Desired Experience/Education/Attributes:

  • MSc degree.

  • Experience in seed production and maintenance.

  • Experience in conducting plant disease screens.
