We now seek for our cucumber department in Enkhuizen, The
Netherlands a:
Crop
Breeding Manager
full-time, with at least a bachelor’s degree.
Job description
As a Crop
Breeding Manager you will be involved in planning the
cucumber breeding programme strategy. Moreover, you will be
responsible that this programme, covering numerous
countries, is implemented successfully by managing an
international team of breeders, crop specialists and
assistants.
You will develop, promote and implement new ideas and
techniques in the field of breeding, biotechnology and
cultivation. You will be responsible, together with our
(senior) breeders, for the preparation, implementation and
evaluation of the breeding programmes and/or projects. The
Crop Breeding Manager confers proactively with other
departments, such as Marketing & Sales and Production, to
decide with crop specialists and our commercial staff which
varieties are best suited to be introduced commercially. In
this position, in which you work independently, you will
report to the Crop Research Manager.
Job requirements
The ideal
candidate has at least 5 years of relevant working
experience in the field of plantbreeding and has a clear
track-record in this field. Moreover, you have a thorough
knowledge of modern breeding techniques and phytopatholgy.
As a Crop Breeding Manager you know what is going on in the
market and you know how to apply this in breeding
programmes. Apart from that, you have several years of
experience in managing a team of breeders and you know how
to motivate people and how they can develop themselves. You
are an excellent planner and organiser, you have an
analytical mind and you are a real innovator. Your
communication skills are excellent, both in English as in
Dutch. This position requires frequent travelling.
