Presently working as Research Associate under the project
“Transgenics in Crops- (Functional genomics Component)” at
Central Soil Salinity Research Institute (CSSRI), Karnal, India
and involve in the following activities:
- Polymorphism survey using SSR and SNPs markers
- Phenotyping of RILs for salt tolerance under salt stress and
normal conditions
- Genotyping of RILs using SSR and SNPs markers
- Fine mapping of QTL regions for salinity tolerance and
identification of probable candidate genes
- PCR amplification of candidate genes and RNA expression
profiling of the genes in the segregating lines
- Proteomics analysis of root and shoot extracts for extraction
profiling of cultivar set and RILs
- Map based cloning of major QTLs and its validation through
transformation and association genetics.
Work at NRC for Soybean
I have completed molecular screening of salt tolerant and
susceptible soybean genotypes using SSR markers, Molecular
screening of Indian soybean varieties and some mutation lines
through microsatellite markers (STMS) and worked on gene tagging
and mapping for Yellow Mosaic Virus through Bulk Segregation
Analysis (BSA). Characterization of wild relatives of soybean by
microsatellite markers and molecular characterization of soybean
germplasm collected from U.S.A., China, Japan, Taiwan and India
(manuscript under preparation) in molecular biology laboratory
at National Research Centre of Soybean, Indore, M. P. INDIA.
Work at NBPGR
Earlier I worked as Research Associate at National Bureau of
Plant Genetic Resources New Delhi. I was involved in
micro-propagation and In-vitro conservation of temperate (Apple,
Peach, Plum), under utilized fruits (Aegel marmelos, Zizyphus
mauritiana and Punica granetum) and tropical aroids (Alocasia,
Collocasia and Xanthosoma sp.).
Techniques known
¨ Expertise in tissue culture techniques
¨ High frequency plantlet regeneration using different
explants
¨ Somatic Embryogenesis
¨ Cryo-preservation
¨ Isolation, Purification and Quantification of total
genomic DNA.
¨ Expertise in Molecular techniques (RFLP, RAPD and SSR)
¨ Estimation of different salt composition in leaf and

¨ Biochemical techniques like isozyme analysis
¨ Familiar with MS office, software related to analysis of
molecular data e.g. NTSYS and MAPMAKER etc.
Field of Interest:
I have keen interest to work in field of Genetics and Plant
Breeding through conventional breeding techniques. Equally
interested in new tools of molecular plant breeding viz.
tagging, mapping, Isolation, cloning and sequencing of genes for
desirable traits and marker assisted breeding and genome
analysis by using latest bioinformatic tools. I am also
interested to work on vector construction and different modes of
transformation of plant tissues by using Agro bacterium and
biolistic methods.
Training attended:
1. Attended lecture classes on advanced training “Molecular
approaches in crop improvement” Conducted by International
Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB) New

detail under this training programme:
Ø Mapping and tagging for gene of interest
Ø Marker aided selection
Ø Methods for plant transformation
Ø Genetic engineering for biotic and abiotic stress
Ø Improvement for nutritional quality
· Attended Two days training on Protection of plant varieties
