Technical expertise:

Molecular Biology Techniques:

 Genomic DNA and RNA isolation (total and mitochondrial)
 Standard PCR, RT-PCR, RACE, rep-PCR and PCR based cloning
 Southern, Northern and western hybridization
 Transcript mapping by Primer extension technique and subtractive hybridization
 Conduct biochemical assays and enzyme assay, ELISA and immunological analysis
 Construction and screening of genomic and cDNA libraries. Gene cloning and expression, purification of protein
 Molecular markers such as AFLP, SNP, STR, RFLP, RAPD, CAPS and SCAR
 Transposon based DNA sequencing
 Construction of cloning vectors, knockout construct and synthetic gene
 In-vitro mutagenesis and develop DNA/ RNA ladders

Tissue Culture and Transformation Techniques:

 Bacterial and Plant Cultures, Induction of root, shoot, somatic embryos in various tissues ex-plants
 Protoplast isolation and culture
 Transformation of Arabidopsis and Brassica plant using Agrobacterium tumefaciens, Bacterial transformation, Bacterial conjugation
 Transfer of Ti-plasmid from E. coli to Agrobacterium by triparental mating

Bioinformatics skills:

 Comfortable with MAPMAKER, NTSYS (2.0e), Fast PCR, DNASTAR scientific software.
 Identification of novel genes from public databases, sequence-alignments and analysis of genomic sequences, knowledge of using programs and search tools like CLUSTAL W, BLAST, etc.
 Word-processing and graphic analysis using adobe photoshop, experience with scientific data and image analyzing programs.

Since February 2006 onwards, working as Research Associate in Custom Services, R & D Group, Bangalore Genei and engaged in customised project like development of molecular markers, transposon based sequencing of large DNA fragment, cloning vectors, Knockout gene construct, In-vitro mutagenesis, synthetic gene and identification of microbes based on 16S rDNA. Meeting customers and generate business are major responsibilities.

Five years (2001-2006) research experience; worked as Research Associate/Senior Research Fellow at National Research Centre on Plant Biotechnology, Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, India.
