Kent Schulze, President and Chief Operating Officer, AgriBioTech, Inc. (ABT) (NASDAQ National Market: ABXT) announced today that Loft Seed, Inc., one of the Company's subsidiaries, has been named a national vendor for The Home Depot, the largest home improvement store retailer in the United States. The Home Depot operates more than 660 stores across the nation.

As a national vendor, the Lofts brand will be available nationwide at The Home Depot, beginning in early 1999, in time for spring planting.

"This is an important event for Lofts in particular and for all of ABT," said Kent Schulze, "it means homeowners all across the country will have the chance to benefit from the quality and performance of Lofts grass seeds."

During a recent category review, the Lofts brand and its products competed with others for the opportunity to supply The Home Depot with grass seed. "We are pleased to have been selected as a national vendor by Home Depot because of the confidence they have shown in our ability to help them serve their customers," said Rich Kayto, Lofts' Mass Merchant manager. Neil Myers, Lofts' Directory of Marketing, added: "We are committed to doing all we can to help Home Depot be successful in our category.

Lofts Seed, Inc. is a 75 year old company based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, that markets turfgrass seed and wildflowers to retailers, professional athletic field managers, golf courses, sod farmers, landscapers, lawn-care operators, grounds maintenance professionals and homeowners. The company owns patents on more than 25 seed varieties, including Rebel III Turf-Type Tall Fescue, has a long-standing association with golfer Arnold Palmer, and has its grass seed planted at many famous places such as Fenway Park, the White House putting green, the Pentagon, and Ericcson Stadium, home of the Carolina Panthers NFL team.
