Groupe Limagrain divests its homeopathic business to focus on seed and biotechnology
Chappes, France
April 29, 1998

Groupe Limagrain has finalized an agreement with the Pierre Fabre Pharmaceutical Company to transfer their interest in Dolisos Laboratories, the second leading homeopathic medical company in the world, to this organization.

Groupe Limagrain made this decision in order to solidify their focus on the worldwide seed, biotechnology and bakery business. The goals of the farmer owned cooperative have strengthened with the continued success of the seed business bolstered by the year-old acquisition of the Harris Moran and Clause group. In addition, the Groupe has made a significant commitment to the production of agricultural end products with the acquisition of the famed Jaquet brand of baked goods, a leading French bakery.

The long-term commitment to the seed business and the increased investment in biotechnology coupled with the shareholder goals of economic independence made continued investment by Groupe Limagrain in pharmaceuticals less critical. The choice was made to divest Dolisos.

Pierre Fabre, a significant member of this market, presented an exceptional opportunity to continue the success of Dolisos in the expanding and capital intensive pharmaceutical market.
