Wee-B-Little miniature pumpkin captures Halloween imaginations
February 17, 1998

Everyone loves All-America Selections winner Wee-B-Little - a true, miniature pumpkin just the right size for easy carving, or painting. Gardeners appreciate its high yield potential and compact vine, children find the little pumpkin easy to handle, and pumpkin connoisseurs have discovered a host of decorating and cooking uses for fall.

Wee-B-Little, a Rogers brand variety, was developed by Novartis Seeds Inc. - Vegetables. As an AAS winner, Wee-B-Little earned praise for its uniform, deep orange color, classic pumpkin shape, and sturdy, spineless handle. Its 3 to 3.5 inch, globe-shaped fruit have a slight rib and mature from yellow to deep orange about 85 days from planting. Smooth skin and strong handles make this variety ideal for a host of uses including painting, carving, and fall decorating.

"Although its shape resembles more traditional varieties like Jack-O-Lantern, fruit of Wee-B-Little only weigh about one pound," says Diana Jancik, wholesale and home garden seed manager. "Its six to eight-foot vine makes Wee-B-Little an excellent choice for home gardeners looking to grow a pumpkin that’s fun to decorate, yet doesn’t take up excess space in the garden."

Seed of Wee-B-Little will be available from authorized dealers of Novartis Seeds, Inc., Vegetables after May 1. Plant Variety Protection is pending.
