November 24,1998Dairyland Seed's DSR-293/RR Roundup Ready soybean variety yielded 90.10
bushels per acre at the Ohio State University soybean trials. The 90-bushel yield at the
Huron County test plot was 11.51 bushels higher than the plot average of 78.59 bushels per
acre.
'Independent yield trials show that Dairyland Seed varieties are proven, consistent
performers," says Tom Strachota, chief executive officer of Dairyland Seed.
"Dairyland Seed continues to invest in top-quality research that pays off where our
customers want it most -- in the field."
Dairyland Seed is no stranger to pushing the performance envelope in soybeans. It was
the first company in the world to release herbicide tolerant soybeans, the first ever to
record an 80 bushel yield in university trials with an STS variety, and the first ever to
record an 80 bushel yield in university trials with a Roundup Ready variety.
"And now, Dairyland Seed is the first company to record 90 bushels per acre with a
Roundup Ready soybean variety," Strachota says.
"But our commitment to developing soybean varieties with exceptional yield
potential does not stop with herbicide-resistant varieties," Strachota adds. "We
want the best genetics in all our soybean varieties." Dairyland Seed's DSR-277
soybean variety eclipsed the 90 bushel per acre yield mark in this year's Michigan State
University soybean trials, recording a 92.40 bushel per acre yield at the Ingham County,
Michigan, test plot, and 91.60 bushels per acre yield at the Lenawee County, Michigan,
test plot.
