Owensboro, Kentucky
June 21, 1998After several years of
research and development, ExSeed Genetics L.L.C.
is proud to announce that its combination of exclusive technologies and an outstanding
team of scientists and grain marketers will allow them to more quickly bring
value-enhanced grains to the marketplace.
ExSeed Genetics is an industry leader in the business of bringing value-enhanced grain
crops to the agricultural and food marketplace, creating a network that will grow, deliver
and process identity-preserved grains. While other companies are talking about delivering
products such as low phytate corn, ExSeed Genetics will have this value-enhanced grain
ready for the marketplace for the 1999 growing season.
"We may be a new name to some, but we've been working diligiently for the past
several years," explains Mark Scholl, president and chief executive officer of ExSeed
Genetics. "We will be the first to deliver low phytate corn to the marketplace, for
next year's growing season."
Low phytate corn is one of the value-enhanced grains developed by ExSeed Genetics.
NutriDense(TM) corn, an ideal feed corn for swine and poultry, will also be available in
1999, joining crops such as waxy traits and white corn genetics.
Through exclusive licensing agreements, ExSeed Genetics uses several genetic patents to
incorporate specialty traits into the agricultural grain crops of corn, wheat and rice.
Unique proprietary breeding processes developed by ExSeed can speed crops with specific
traits to the marketplace faster than ever before.
"With our proprietary FasTrack technology, we can deliver value-added hybrids
developed with specific characteristics in half the time of the normal breeding
process," Scholl says.
The process begins by determining characteristics desired in a grain by the end user, such
as poultry or swine producers, or industrial users. ExSeed Genetics scientists take this
information and work with seed company partners to add desired traits using elite
germplasm stock.
Through the ExSeed Genetics Network, ExSeed signs agreements with independent partners
well versed in the development and production of identity-preserved grains, and
coordinates the system to get ExSeed EnhancedTM grains delivered to the end user.
Throughout the development process, ExSeed scientists ensure hybrid varieties continue to
meet end user specifications through a series of stringent, exclusively designed testing
procedures.
Once the right grain hybrid with the desired traits is developed, ExSeed Genetics works
with select Production Partners to produce grain according to the end users' exact
specifications, delivering identity-preserved grain when and where it is needed. The
ExSeed Genetics Network includes seed, production and logistics partners experienced in
the special handling and
storage required by identity-preserved grains.
ExSeed Genetics L.L.C., headquartered in Owensboro, Ky., was formed in 1994, and has
research operations in Owensboro, Ames, Iowa, and Olivia, Minn. You can visit the ExSeed
