EnviroLogix is the first to offer a common extraction method for testing all GM events in corn

Portland, Maine
March 20, 2002

EnviroLogix is the first to offer one simple corn extract for screening all its GM corn tests. Now users can just extract the corn sample with tap water, drop in the appropriate QuickStix™ strips and read the results. This innovative method increases the throughput of facilities that need to run more than one test on a sample, by saving preparation time.

This innovative time saver is now available through an easier test method for its Cry1Ab (Bt) QuickStix test kit. With this improved test, the corn is extracted with tap water and requires no buffer addition. QuickStix Cry1Ab test kits provide easily understood "yes/no" results within 2-5 minutes for testing grain in the field, at the elevator, rail/ship terminals, processing plants or wherever convenience and speed are critical.

QuickStix Cry1Ab strips (Cat. No. AS 003 BG) detect the presence of the Cry1Ab protein (Bt11 or Mon810 events) at the levels typically expressed in genetically modified corn grain. Each QuickStix kit is packaged for 100 tests with a list price of $350. Kits are immediately available directly from EnviroLogix.

EnviroLogix is licensed by Monsanto to develop and market tests for transgenic traits in a number of crops, including Roundup Ready® soybeans, corn, cotton and canola. Other products developed by EnviroLogix include tests for biotechnology enhanced Bt corn. EnviroLogix develops, manufactures and markets immunoassay test kits for the food safety and water quality markets and offers custom antibody and assay development services.
