BASF Plant Science takes world-wide license to Genomatix“ regulatory sequence analysis application

Munich, Germany
December 12, 2003

In silico systems biology company Genomatix Software GmbH has licensed its GEMS Launcher package for promoter sequence analysis to BASF Plant Science GmbH. It will be installed behind the BASF firewall and is accessible to seven BASF research units and subsidiaries in The United States of America, Canada, Sweden, and Germany.

Genomatix, specialist in mammalian systems biology, repeatedly has proven its proprietary methods being equally successful applied to plant systems. ElDorado and Gene2Promoter, genomic databases of man, mouse, rat, and Arabidopsis thaliana and a unique resource to gene regulatory sequences, will soon be split into a "green" and a "red" ElDorado.

Plant genomes to be integrated include rice, corn, barley, wheat and soybean.
