Mycogen Seeds announced it is offering 20 new grain corn hybrids and 12 new soybean varieties, available immediately. The new grain corn lineup features a variety of insect and weed control options, including Herculexä I Insect Protection, LibertyLinkâ herbicide resistance, and Roundup Readyâ herbicide tolerance. The new soybean hybrids feature Roundup Ready.

New Grain Corn Hybrids

Grain corn hybrid 2J086 is an 80-day dent-type hybrid with Roundup Ready herbicide. It offers very good stalks and drought tolerance, along with exceptional roots, drydown and ear retention. Consistent ear development promotes yield stability across a range of environments.

For exceptional performance in high-yield environments, 2R570 with Herculex I features broad-spectrum protection from insect pests and tolerance to Liberty® herbicide. “Its high yield comes from its ability to produce very consistent ears with deep grains on slender cobs at high plant densities,” says Terry Gardner, Senior Grain Corn Marketing Specialist, Mycogen Seeds.

2R570 has good stalks and roots, excellent staygreen and fast drydown. 2R282, featuring Roundup Ready, offers excellent early emergence, very good stability and exceptional drydown. It produces a girthy ear type with very good test weight and grain quality.

The moderately tall 2H561 LibertyLink hybrid produces medium-long, girthy ears that tend to hold their size under stress. It offers superior emergence and early vigor, along with excellent staygreen, drought-stress tolerance and fast fall drydown.

For broad-spectrum protection from insects, 2T780 is a 114-day Herculex I hybrid with tolerance to Liberty herbicide. Its outstanding yield potential comes from quality grain produced on long, girthy ears with white cobs. 2T780 has moderate gray leaf spot tolerance and performs best at low to medium-high plant densities.

2J734 is an attractive, medium-height hybrid that features tolerance to Liberty herbicide. It offers a strong agronomic package that includes excellent staygreen and drought tolerance, along with very good standability and gray leaf spot tolerance.

2E522 features tolerance to Liberty herbicide and exceptional early emergence. It has excellent yield potential and good adaptability to various soil types and tillage practices. This hybrid is best for early planting.

New Soybean Varieties

With strong iron deficiency chlorosis (IDC) tolerance and good field tolerance to Phytophthora, 5B077RR is a medium-tall soybean variety with a medium-bushy canopy. It displays excellent standability and performs well in wide or narrow rows.

5B098RR offers growers top-end yield and very good drought-stress tolerance. It expresses strong side branching that allows it to perform well in wide and narrow rows.

5B193RR has a great defensive package with very good IDC and white mold scores. It is resistant to brown stem rot and has very good stress tolerance. “A medium-thin canopy and excellent standability make it a great choice for narrow aisle,” says Keith Porter, Marketing Specialist, Mycogen Seeds.

For fields with multiple disease risks, 5N203RR may be the solution. It features resistance to cyst nematodes, good IDC tolerance, and very good tolerance to white mold and Sudden Death Syndrome.  Additionally, it carries the Rps1k gene for Phytophthora.

5B261RR is a big, tall and rugged variety for western Iowa and eastern Nebraska that yields big, too.  It provides good levels of protection against Phytophthora and very good stress tolerance.
