Monsanto Company (NYSE: MON) announced today that it has
received written notification that the U.S. Department of
Justice, Antitrust Division, has concluded its inquiry regarding
possible anticompetitive conduct in the glyphosate-based
herbicide industry. The inquiry was closed with no actions
required by Monsanto.
“We’re pleased that the Justice
Department has closed its inquiry and this issue is now behind
us,” said Hugh Grant, Monsanto’s Chairman, President and Chief
Executive Officer. Monsanto originally reported this inquiry in
March of 2003, and had cooperated fully with the Justice
Department since that time.
