The United States Department of
Agriculture and the National
Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) released county
profiles from the 2002 Census of Agriculture on the Internet.
With the release of the profiles on the net, much of the
information covered by the 2002 Census of Agriculture is now
more readily available. The county profiles give a deeper, more
in-depth analysis of the ‘story of agriculture,’ by providing
more information on both state and county levels. They reveal
farm trends, production value and additional meaningful insights
about farm communities.
To find the information online, simply go to the
www.nass.usda.gov/census/ website, and then click on “Profiles:
State and County” under the “Specialty Products” section. Once
onto the Web page, an abundance of statistics are readily
available and broken down into charts and graphs. From the
number of farms, to economic and operator characteristics, the
Web site provides detailed information and comparisons to the
1997 Census of Agriculture.
NASS collects and provides a vast array of production, economic,
demographic and environmental facts about U. S. agriculture
through regularly scheduled weekly, monthly, quarterly and
annual reports. For more census information, visit NASS online
at www.usda.gov/nass by
clicking on “Census of Agriculture” for aggregate facts and
figures or call 1-800-727-9540. Census publications and a CD-ROM
for queries (to be released later this month) are available for
sale through the National Technical Information Service at
1-800-999-6779. |
