Mycogen Seeds adds eight new Atlas brand soybean varieties to the product lineup for the 2006 growing season. These varieties all include Roundup Ready® herbicide tolerance.

“We are excited to offer these new Atlas brand soybean varieties to help meet the diverse needs of soybean growers,” says Keith Porter, Marketing Specialist, Mycogen Seeds.

New Soybean Varieties

As the earliest maturing variety from Mycogen Seeds, 5B004RR, which is a relative maturity Group 00 soybean, features excellent tolerance to iron deficiency chlorosis (IDC) and tolerance to white mold. It has very good emergence and lodging resistance gives it great adaptation to narrow rows.

5B053RR is a medium-tall variety with a thin canopy that features excellent tolerance to IDC. It has both genetic resistance and good field tolerance to Phytophthora. This variety shows excellent emergence for no-till drilling.

5B110RR has very good field tolerance to Phytophthora and has shown excellent yield stability. It is a medium-height variety with a medium-bushy canopy that features excellent IDC tolerance.

5B141RR is a medium-height variety with a bushy canopy that offers superior yield performance. It has both genetic resistance (Rps1k) and good field tolerance to Phytophthora.

Offering excellent cyst nematode resistance, 5N152RR is a medium-tall variety with a medium-bushy canopy that features excellent yields.

5B244RR is a tall, medium-bushy variety that offers outstanding yields. It has excellent emergence and lodging resistance and is a strong choice for both no-till and wide rows.

Resistance to cyst nematode is a feature of 5N290RR. It also carries very good Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS) tolerance and performs well in tough conditions.

5N382RR is a stacked STS (Sulfonylurea Tolerant Soybean) variety that offers a great package of defensive traits along with competitive yields. It features strong resistance to cyst nematode. 5N382RR has both genetic resistance and strong field tolerance to Phytophthora.

“These new soybean varieties offer the latest in disease and herbicide resistance technology,” concludes Porter. “This will help provide growers with the finest products available for the 2006 growing season.”
