Advanced Biological Marketing launches new wheat seed treatment for the western U.S. plains
Van Wert, Ohio
August 23, 2005

Advanced Biological Marketing has recently launched a new seed treatment for the western plains wheat producing regions. T-22™ for Wheat is a companion fungicide that has been proven to increase yield while protecting wheat from disease for the entire growing season. Growers in eastern wheat producing states, have enjoyed several years of growing success with this innovative product.

“Our customers have had tremendous results with this product in eastern states such as Ohio, Indiana and Michigan, with excellent field trial results,” said Dan Custis, president of Advanced Biological Marketing. “We’re pleased that this western introduction has shown the same profitable results for wheat growers west of the Mississippi.”

In recent trials conducted by University of Nebraska, South Dakota State University and North Dakota State University, yield results ranged to more than 6 bushels increase per acre, even when used with a chemical fungicide. The recently published 2005 Nebraska Wheat Book, for example, shows a substantial yield gain across all regional tests reported, including both dryland and irrigated wheat.

T-22 for Wheat contains a strain of the beneficial fungus Trichoderma Harzianum Rifai, developed at Cornell University, and has been proven to protect wheat plants from soil-borne pathogens Pythium, Fusarium, Sclerotina and Rhizoctonia.

T-22 for Wheat is a companion product and works best when used in conjunction with a traditional fungicide. Traditional fungicides only work during the first few weeks of a plant’s life, then become ineffective at preventing disease. T-22 for Wheat begins to work when the traditional fungicide stops, and protects the plant from disease for the remainder of the plant’s life.

The product encourages increased tillering, so there are more wheat shoots per plant. By promoting faster root and shoot development and greater root mass, T-22 for Wheat also improves nutrient uptake and creates a healthier plant that reduces lodging, making harvest easier.

“The performance of T-22 for Wheat was outstanding,” said Tom Luhrs of Luhrs Certified Seed in Enders, NE. I am firmly convinced that T-22 for Wheat improves overall plant health, plant performance and obtains higher yields.”

“T-22 for Wheat is effective in most soil types and is compatible with commercially applied seed treatments,” said Dan Custis, president of Advanced Biological Marketing. “We believe that T-22 for Wheat usage is an absolutely necessary element of wheat farming today, particularly when you factor in the additional profit that can be earned.”

T-22 can be applied as a commercial seed treatment, or is available as a drill box product. T-22 for Wheat is both EPA approved and certified organic and does not affect ground water or runoff.
