Nunhems USA poised for aggressive delivery of hybrid vegetable varieties to the produce industry
Parma, Idaho
May 20, 2005

Almost a year ago, Nunhems, a global company dedicated to the development and production of commercial seed varieties, integrated the former Sunseeds label into the Nunhems brand.  Nunhems USA, Inc. is now poised to market its comprehensive product line throughout the Americas.

The move, implemented almost seven years after the acquisition of Sunseeds, has been methodical and deliberate.  The company is making sure customers, from dealers to growers, become fully familiar with Nunhems and comfortable that the transition means continuity in products and services.

Following several years of consistent growth, Nunhems is on track to continue the trend by expanding markets throughout the Americas.  Species-specific Crop Teams form the basis of Nunhems’ market approach.  These global teams are expert in their crop and bring that knowledge to the customers they service via regional representation.  Nunhems’ growing staff, with expertise in all aspects of developing and bringing to market new hybrids, assures growers a successful selection of new products for distinct agronomic and market needs.  Crop teams work locally but are backed by over 160 years of experience and market knowledge in more than 20 countries.

Recognizing the power that consumer acceptance and food retailer commitment have to pull product through the distribution system to become preferred varieties, Nunhems is also working with produce distributors, retailers, and food manufacturers to identify future trends and be ready with hybrids that will meet consumer needs.  Aligning the company with consumer-savvy partners is fundamental to corporate strategy.  These business partners bring in their own expertise, and with Nunhems form a seamless vegetable supply chain from seed development to consumer product consumption.

Nunhems currently produces hybrids for 25 species of vegetables including onions, carrots, peppers, cucumbers, squash, leeks, and tomatoes and is a recognized innovator in the mixed melon and watermelon categories.  With its strong commitment to research and development, Nunhems’ established worldwide breeding programs focus on driving commercialization of innovative new products with distinctive traits leading to improved growth and profitability for company and customer alike.

Nunhems, headquartered in The Netherlands, operates with nearly 1000 employees in 20 countries. The US headquarters are in Parma, Idaho.
