Mycogen Seeds, from
Dow AgroSciences, is
pleased to announce the availability of two new grain hybrids
with Herculex® XTRA Insect Protection technology
for 2006.
Herculex XTRA technology provides powerful above-
and below-ground insect protection.
This trait combines the protection of Herculex RW
Rootworm Protection and Herculex I Insect
Protection. Herculex XTRA provides protection against corn
rootworm, first- and second-generation European corn borer,
black cutworm, fall armyworm, western bean cutworm, southwestern
corn borer, and intermediate suppression of corn earworm.
“We are proud to offer growers the latest in
cutting-edge technology for their pest protection needs,” says
Terry Gardner, Marketing Specialist, Mycogen Seeds. “Herculex
XTRA provides the broadest-spectrum insect protection available
on the market.”
Dow AgroSciences, one of the traits’ developers,
recently received confirmation that the Environmental Protection
Agency has registered Herculex® XTRA Insect Protection.
Registrations in other countries, as well as
grain import approvals for Japan and other key export markets,
are also being sought.
New hybrids available
Mycogen Seeds will offer growers two hybrids with
Herculex® XTRA for 2006 planting.
2E526 is a 102-day relative maturity
hybrid. It is a high-yielding Herculex XTRA hybrid that
delivers powerful above- and below-ground in-plant insect
protection. Its excellent emergence and early vigor make it
a strong choice for no-till and early planting. 2E526 offers
good stalks and roots along with fast fall drydown.
With a 110-day relative maturity, 2G677
features Herculex XTRA for powerful above- and below-ground
in-plant insect protection. It offers excellent yield
stability across a wide range of environments and management
practices. 2G677 is widely adapted east of the Mississippi
River where both European corn borer and western corn
rootworm “soybean variant” are present.
“Herculex XTRA has proven effective against a
broad-spectrum of insects in numerous field trials across the
Corn Belt,” says Gardner. “This new offering of Herculex XTRA
reflects our continued commitment to providing growers with a
wide variety of top-performing hybrids and solutions for their
crop challenges.”
All Herculex® XTRA hybrids from Mycogen Seeds
have LibertyLink® technology, which
makes them tolerant to over-the-top applications
of LIBERTY® herbicide.
In addition, all Mycogen™ brand Herculex XTRA
hybrids include Cruiser Extreme™ Pak. This seed-applied
insecticide protects germinating seed from damage and stand loss
caused by wireworms, seedcorn maggots and other secondary pests.
It also features Maxim® XL, Apron XL® and Dynasty™ seed
treatment fungicides to control a wide disease spectrum.
