Mycogen Seeds
announces the availability of six sorghum hybrids for the 2006
growing season. Mycogen™ brand grain sorghum hybrids feature
drought tolerance and yield productive results, offering growers
a solution to their challenging growing areas. In addition, this
line of sorghum hybrids is adaptable to a range of environments.
“We are excited to offer growers reliable options and solutions
for their challenging growing conditions,” says Greg Cannon,
Marketing Specialist, Mycogen Seeds.
Hybrids that protect yield potential
An attractive, medium-early hybrid, M 3838 features
cream-colored grain that is best adapted to Mycogen Sorghum
Hybrids dryland or areas with limited irrigation. M 3838 has a
semi-open head type that dries fast and allows for earlier
harvesting.
Adapting and performing well under stress conditions, 737
is a medium-maturing hybrid with great yields and excellent
standability. Its large seed aids in planting and offers a nice
package that includes good emergence and disease tolerance.
1506 is a tall, robust hybrid with excellent standability
and exceptional staygreen characteristics. This medium-late
hybrid features outstanding emergence, seedling vigor, and heat
and drought tolerance, making it a top performer under dryland
or irrigated production.
Combining Biotype K resistance with high-yielding genetics,
627 is a widely adapted medium-early hybrid with excellent
standability under a range of conditions. 627 features
resistance to Biotypes C, E, I and K greenbugs to help protect
yield. This is the new industry standard for medium-early
hybrids.
A bronze hybrid with resistance to Biotypes C, E, I and K
greenbugs, 697 combines top yields with the ability to
adapt to a range of environments. This medium hybrid also
features a very high level of resistance to downy mildew.
1G600 is a medium-early hybrid that produces bronze grain
in a semi-compact head. It is very well adapted to both dryland
and irrigated production practices. The larger planting seed
size and excellent early vigor of 1G600 make it suitable for
early planting into cooler soils. It has a wide north-to-south
area of adaptation.
All Mycogen Seeds sorghum hybrids are available with Cruiser®
seed-applied insecticide. Cruiser protects growers’ sorghum
against a broad spectrum of pests, including chinch bug,
seedcorn maggot, greenbug, yellow sugarcane aphid, wireworm and
corn leaf aphid.
“This added early-season pest protection helps ensure uniform
stands, consistent growth and the production of a high-quality
crop,” adds Cannon.
In addition, all of Mycogen Seeds sorghum hybrids are treated
with Concep® III seed safener, allowing the use of Dual® and
Bicep® herbicides.
