Philom Bios hires agronomist for US business
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
April 28, 2006

Philom Bios is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Roger Borges to the new position of US Agronomist in charge of agronomic research and extension. Dr. Borges was most recently Assistant Professor at the University of Wisconsin, where he was responsible for applied soybean and winter wheat research conducted by the Agronomy Department of the University of Wisconsin. His research included the evaluation of various seed inoculants on nodulation, yield and composition of soybean grain.

“Dr. Borges brings a great combination of industry and academic excellence to Philom Bios. His experience in developing research and extension programs will help ensure that our customers derive the greatest value from our inoculant products,” says Sanford Gleddie, Vice President, Research and Business Development with Philom Bios at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.

Dr. Borges will be responsible for Philom Bios’ small-plot, replicated trials, as well as over 100 large, on-farm, split-field inoculant demonstrations. In addition, he will provide agronomic support to retailers, seed and seed treatment industries, and will be the primary Philom Bios contact for Universities and grower associations.

“As the price of fertilizer continues to put pressure on farmers, Dr. Borges will play a key role in helping farmers derive greater value from nitrogen and phosphate inoculants in corn-soybean rotations,” explains Dorn Severtson, Philom Bios US Sales Manager at Chaska, MN. “He will be a key resource for helping retailers and farmers get the most out of their fertility programs.”

Gleddie explains that Philom Bios operates with a philosophy of helping farmers and retailers better understand how to improve soil and fertilizer use efficiency—based on a foundation of sound research and agronomics.

“Dr. Borges will help carry that philosophy forward in our expansion into the corn and soybean markets,” says Gleddie. “Our focus with TagTeam, JumpStart and N-Prove is to ensure that our products deliver the highest net return to our customers.”

Philom Bios is a world leading Inoculant Company with over 70 employees across North America in a wide range of research, manufacturing, marketing, and management positions. Headquartered in Saskatoon, SK, Philom Bios is a Canadian public company serving the needs of farmers with highvalue inoculants.
