A study published by the Mercatus Center of George Mason University highlights the use of the Monsanto Combi-Pack by smallholder farmers in South Africa in helping to alleviate hunger in the region. Entitled “Seeds of Hope: Agricultural Technologies and Poverty Alleviation in Rural South Africa,” the study details how use of the Combi-Pack, coupled with outreach and education programs, is making a difference in alleviating hunger in three South African communities.
Developed in the late 1990s, the Combi-Pack contains hybrid seed, fertilizer, herbicide, other inputs and pictogram instructions, and in quantities smallholder farmers can easily use.
