Western Australia's Department of Agriculture and Food (DAFWA) researchers are appealing for farmers to contribute weed seeds or mature seed heads to assist with a study into the role of Root Lesion Nematodes in the cereal cropping system.

Technical officer Ali Bhatti said the nematologists would also screen weeds to investigate their ability to build-up or carry-over nematodes,” Mr Bhatti said.

“The seeds will be used to grow plants in the glasshouse for testing,” he said.

“Farmers can help by sending us the weed seeds or mature seed heads of wild radish, Capeweed, Wild turnip, Doublegee, Dock, Storksbill, Mallow or various grasses.  We only need a handful,” Mr Bhatti said.

Seed or mature seed head samples should be sent in a sealed paper bag or envelope, with contact details, location and identity of the seed to
