Williamsburg, Iowa
April 5, 2007
Two Iowa-based companies —
KINZE Manufacturing, Inc.
and Ag Leader Technology, Inc.
— have partnered to develop new planting technology that
significantly improves the precision and control of row crop
planters while expanding the farmer’s crop management
capabilities.
The new KINZE Vision™ system is based on the Ag Leader Insight™
display with touch screen control (on a large color display) to
manage compatible KINZE electronic seed monitoring and variable
rate drive systems. It also includes factory-installed Tru Count
air-actuated, single row clutches for manual or GPS auto-swath
control to enable growers to engage and disengage individual
planter sections at headlands, point rows, waterways or
previously planted areas. In addition, growers will be able to
easily track their planting operations by mapping and recording
hybrids and varieties (including split planter configurations).
“The new KINZE Vision system re-defines planting as a process
within precision agriculture,” says Al Myers, President of Ag
Leader Technology. “This will help growers significantly reduce
seed costs and field time while maximizing the yield potential
of every seed they plant.”
“Ag Leader has been a great partner in the development of this
new high-tech system,” says KINZE President Jon Kinzenbaw. “The
real winners, of course, are the farmers, because now we have
the tools and technology available from KINZE to help them
increase efficiency and make even better crop management
decisions.”
In addition to the planting functionality, KINZE Vision
will be imbedded with other easy-to-add Ag Leader Insight
functions, including dry and liquid product application and
harvest monitoring/mapping. Current Ag Leader Insight owners
will be able to interface with compatible KINZE electronic seed
sensors (hardware retrofit kit required).
KINZE Vision is the first in a series of new planter innovations
KINZE will launch within the next 18 months. KINZE Vision will
be available on selected models effective with 2008 KINZE
planter production.
