U.K.'s Home-Grown Cereals Authority launches Crop Oracle CD
United Kingdom
February 2, 2007

Growers can now take advantage of the HGCA’s ‘Crop Oracle’, a new CD Rom combining all the HGCA technical information on cereals and oilseeds from Recommended Lists to the Wheat Disease Encyclopaedia.

"The benefit of the CD is that it contains all the HGCA technical information in one place," said Professor Graham Jellis, HGCA’s director of research. "Growers are still able to interrogate the variety information that was available on RL Plus, but this is now combined with easy access to many relevant HGCA publications and agronomy tools."

The ‘Crop Oracle’ CD contains all the HGCA Recommended Lists tables, interactive RL Plus, allowing growers to assess varieties for their own needs, over 20 HGCA guides, 60 Topic Sheets and several agronomy tools.

"We hope that the CD will provide essential support for growers throughout the season," said Professor Jellis. "With information on, for example, selecting varieties, establishing and growing crops, identifying and controlling pests and diseases, and successful storage, it covers all stages of crop production. Also, to provide a more comprehensive picture for the arable grower, we are pleased to be able to include the 2007 PGRO Pulse Agronomy Guide on the CD"

The wheat disease encyclopaedia, a comprehensive information and picture library to allow accurate disease identification, management guidelines to take-all in winter wheat and the updated nozzle selection chart for 2007, are among the new publications on the CD. It also includes a copy of the Grain Storage Guide and the Arable Cropping and the Environment Guide, both of which are required for Crop Assurance.

The CD will be sent to all growers on the HGCA database during February. If you do not receive a copy please contact HGCA publications at publications@hgca.com to place an order.
