is with deep sorrow, that we have to inform that Director Dr.
Bent Skovmand has passed away peacefully the night between
Monday and Tuesday February 5th, 2007 after a short period of
illness.
Bent was our director here at
the Nordic Gene Bank
and our good friend. He was a man with a big heart and a warm
personality with room for many people.
Bent was a highly respected and liked person internationally
with his great engagement in his work within plant genetic
resources and his particpation in many aspects of the Nordic and
international work. With his great scientific knowledge and
unique personality, he has especially left his marks in the
scientific world within his two favorite areas; "wheat breeding"
and "plant genetic resources". Bent is a person who will be
remembered for who he was and what he stood for.
Our thoughts are with his family and their many close relatives
all over the world through this very difficult time.
