Jiffy International AS today
announces the formation of a new holding company, Jiffy Canada
Inc., which has completed the acquisition of A. E. McKenzie Co.,
Inc., purchasing 100% of their stock. McKenzie is located in
Brandon, Manitoba and is the leading Canadian company producing
packaged flower and vegetable seeds for Canadian home gardeners.
“We are very happy to be expanding our presence in the North
American home garden market and we look forward to continuing
the development of A. E. McKenzie Company’s highly successful
business,” says Årstein Knutson, President of Jiffy
International AS.
A. E. McKenzie Co., Inc. is the oldest active seed company in
Canada, and the company caters directly to the consumer market
through retailers by selling seed and seed-related products such
as seed starter products, grass seed and a variety of gardening
aids to be used for planting seed.
“By acquiring A. E. McKenzie Co, Jiffy will now be able to focus
even more toward the garden hobbyist,” says Daniel Schrodt,
President of Jiffy Canada Inc. “Although the professional grower
industry is the backbone of Jiffy’s operation, this acquisition
has created a clear synergy between the companies, allowing us
both to complement each others’ lines nicely.”
Both companies see future market potential areas where they each
already have a brand name base and also a future for new
products that will rollout very soon. In addition to newly-owned
McKenzie Seed Company,
the Jiffy organization also owns
Ferry-Morse Seed Company
in the U.S., that country’s leading producer of seed packets for
the home gardener. |
