Bayer CropScience
will be presenting the first positive outcomes of its food chain
partnership activities to an international specialist audience
at this year’s Fruit Logistica in Berlin. From February 8 - 10,
2007, the company’s stand in Hall 2.1, B-11 will be staffed by
representatives of Bayer CropScience and partners from the food
chain; they will be talking to the public about projects that
have already been implemented and about the many and varied
aspects of food production. The joint goal of all the partners
in this chain is to produce safe, high quality food as a basis
for a healthy diet. This goal can only be achieved through
competent and professional collaboration between farmers,
importers, exporters, processors, food wholesalers and
retailers, and experts from Bayer. The company hopes that its
renewed presence at this trade fair will enable it to win over
new partners for new projects.
Corn and vegetables from Kenya for the European export market
In the summer of 2006, Bayer CropScience launched a project in
Kenya under the name "Green World" as part of the food chain
partnership activities. This project will be presented in detail
on Friday, February 9, 2007 at
1.15 p.m. in the Press Center, Hall 6.3, Room A. Green World was
aimed specifically at dealers who sell fertilizers and crop
protection products to small-scale farmers. The dealers
underwent intensive training by specialists from Bayer, and they
subsequently passed on their new knowledge about modern
cultivation methods, good agricultural practice, the safe use of
crop protection products and many other subjects to their
customers. The Kenyan farmers are benefiting from higher yields;
any corn and vegetables that are surplus to their own
requirements are sold at local markets and, increasingly, for
export to Europe. Green World enables local farmers to produce
to the high quality and food-safety standards that European
consumers demand.
Bayer CropScience AG, a subsidiary of Bayer AG with annual
