St. Louis, Missouri
January 17, 2007

Monsanto Company (NYSE: MON) announced today that at its annual meeting, shareowners elected four members of its board of directors to new terms. Frank V. AtLee III, Arthur H. Harper, Gwendolyn S. King and Sharon R. Long, Ph.D. were elected to serve until the company's 2010 meeting.

Shareowners also ratified the Board's Audit and Finance Committee's appointment of Deloitte & Touche LLP as the company's principal independent registered public accounting firm for the 2007 fiscal year.

One shareowner proposal was also voted on at the meeting. Monsanto shareowners supported the recommendation by the company's board of directors and voted against a proposal to separate the role of the chairperson and chief executive officer.
