Bayer CropScience receives updated U.S., EPA label for Oberon 2 SC miticide/insecticide on oats - Increased crop rotation flexibility improves application options

U.S. growers who want to rotate from corn to oats now have increased flexibility on how and when to address their pest-control concerns, thanks to an updated label Bayer CropScience has received for Oberon® 2 SC miticide/insecticide from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The EPA reduced the crop rotation requirement from one year to 30 days, following the last Oberon treatment.

“That now matches wheat and barley, maximizing the crop rotation flexibility to each of these crops and even winter forage mixes that are a combination of them,” says Tim Krueger, Bayer CropScience technical services specialist.

Krueger adds that Oberon offers growers a unique mode-of-action that is very effective against all stages of mite development, including eggs and adults. In addition, the product controls whitefly and psyllid species.

Because it is an integrated pest management-friendly compound, Oberon allows beneficial insects to continue working in the field. As such, the product is an attractive option to help growers, pest control advisers and crop consultants manage potential resistance issues.
