PGG Wrightson has signed an unconditional contract to purchase from DuPont Argentina S.A. all the shares in AgarCross Uruguay SA, which owns the company and trademark Agrosan. “This is a significant step forward for PGG Wrightson in Uruguay” Barry Brook, PGG Wrightson’s Chief Executive Officer commented.

PGG Wrightson has been involved with seed production, distribution and marketing in Uruguay since 1999, supported by research, breeding and evaluation facilities internationally.

AgarCross Uruguay, based in Montevideo, is a significant player in the Uruguay seeds business, as well as being the distributor of Pioneer brands and DuPont agrichemical products.

“By buying the shares of AgarCross PGG Wrightson not only is the leader of the forage seeds business, but in addition becomes a key player in agrochemicals. PGG Wrightson will be present in the Uruguay market with two leading companies; Wrightson PAS and Agrosan”.

As part of the development of a strong regional base in Uruguay, PGG Wrightson has also just concluded the purchase of the shares of the minority shareholders in Wrightson PAS. “Our partners have been a key part of our growth in the South American market and it is now time to say thank you to them” said Barry Brook.
