Mexico is the largest market for Canadian canary seed and a major market for lentils. It is expected to
become a larger market for Canadian dry beans during the next decade as the tariffs are eliminated in 2008.
The value of Canadian pulse and special crops exports to Mexico has been growing and reached $40 million in
2006. However, Mexico is also a major competitor for Canadian chickpeas in world markets. This issue of
the Bi-weekly Bulletin examines the situation and outlook for pulse and special crops in Mexico.
