DuPont
today announced that Dean Oestreich , DuPont vice president and
president of Pioneer Hi-Bred,
has been named chairman of Pioneer. Paul Schickler (photo) has
been named DuPont vice president and general manager and
president of Pioneer.
“Given the incredible growth opportunity for the Pioneer
business and the importance of Pioneer to the success of DuPont,
we needed to expand the leadership capacity for longer-term
planning and execution,” said J. Erik Fyrwald , group vice
president – DuPont Agriculture & Nutrition.
Oestreich, 55, will focus on strengthening the longer-term
strategy for the Pioneer business. Schickler, who has had
responsibility for the rapidly growing international markets for
Pioneer, will have responsibility for all of Pioneer’s business
operations.
Oestreich has served as Pioneer president since 2004. He joined
Pioneer in 1974 as a corn breeder and has held leadership
positions in the businesses information management, sales and
marketing, and supply management organizations.
Schickler, 55, joined Pioneer in 1974 in corporate accounting.
He held a number of administrative leadership roles before being
named a Pioneer vice president in 1995. He assumed
responsibility for Pioneer Latin America operations in 1999 and
all Pioneer business operations outside of North America in
2003. Schickler assumed responsibility for business development
across the DuPont Agriculture & Nutrition platform, in addition
to his business operations responsibilities, in 2006.

Paul E. Schickler joined Pioneer
in 1974 when as an accountant.
Mr. Schickler held positions in
international business and
administration until 1984, when
he was named controller. In
1995, Mr. Schickler was named
vice president of Human
Resources, Learning and
Development, Communications and
Real Estate Management. He was
named vice president, director,
Latin America Operations for
Pioneer in 1999. This role later
expanded to include Mexico and
Africa. In October 2003,
responsibility for the remaining
international businesses was
added, and he was named vice
president, International
Operations. In 2006, Mr.
Schickler assumed additional
responsibility for strategic
business development for the
DuPont Agriculture & Nutrition
platform serving as business
development director. In
November 2007, he was named
DuPont vice president and
general manager and Pioneer
president. Mr. Schickler serves
on the Grand View College Board
of Directors. He received
Bachelor of Arts and Master of
Arts degrees in business
administration from Drake
