Bayer CropScience
has received the first regulatory approval for its new
insecticidal active ingredient spirotetramat from the
authorities in Tunisia. "Spirotetramat is a promising active
ingredient in the ketoenoles substance class. The decisive
advantages of this new systemic leaf insecticide are its
efficacy against a broad spectrum of sucking insects and its
suitability for use on all types of crops," commented Dr.
Rüdiger Scheitza, Member of the Board of Management of Bayer
CropScience and Head of Global Portfolio Management.
"We hope to expand our global leadership position in the
insecticides market segment with spirotetramat," he emphasized.
The intention is to market spirotetramat worldwide under the
brand name Movento®. Further approvals for Movento® in the
United States and further markets worldwide are expected next
year. Launch of the new insecticide is planned for 2008.
An innovative insecticide for integrated pest control
Spirotetramat belongs to the chemical class of ketoenols
invented by Bayer, and offers farmers extremely effective
control of a broad spectrum of sucking insects. Spirotetramat is
a long-acting active ingredient which protects pome and stone
fruit, citrus fruit, grapes, nuts, vegetables and potatoes from
pests such as aphids, cicadas, grape louse, mealy bug, whitefly
and cottony cushion scale. The unique feature of this substance
is that the systemic active ingredient moves up and down through
the entire plant system, including the young shoots, leaves and
roots, and is thus distributed evenly and lastingly. It acts
against insect larvae by ingestion.
Bayer CropScience recommends spirotetramat for use in integrated
crop protection programs since it is safe for beneficial insects
such as ladybugs and lacewings. The innovative insecticide has a
good decomposition and residue profile, making it outstandingly
well suited to meeting the high quality standards imposed by the
international food chain. The active ingredient is also suitable
as part of a risk management program. When used alternately,
spirotetramat can extend the useful life of other commercially
available classes of active ingredient.

Neues Bayer CropScience Insektizid Spirotetramat weltweit
erstmals zugelassen
Bayer CropScience hat die erste Zulassung für seinen neuen
insektiziden Wirkstoff Spirotetramat von der tunesischen
Registrierungsbehörde erhalten. "Spirotetramat ist ein viel
versprechender Wirkstoff aus der Stoffklasse der Ketoenole. Die
entscheidenden Vorzüge dieses neuen systemischen
Blattinsektizids sind seine Wirksamkeit gegen eine große
Bandbreite saugender Insekten und seine Eignung für den Einsatz
in Nutzpflanzen aller Art", so Dr. Rüdiger Scheitza, Mitglied
des Vorstands der Bayer CropScience AG und zuständig für das
Portfolio Management. "Mithilfe von Spirotetramat wollen wir
unsere globale Führungsposition im Marktsegment der Insektizide
weiter ausbauen", betonte Scheitza.
Spirotetramat soll weltweit unter dem Markennamen Movento®
vermarktet werden. Mit Zulassungen für Movento® in den USA und
weiteren Märkten weltweit wird im Laufe des kommenden Jahres
gerechnet. Die Markteinführung des neuen Insektizids ist für
2008 geplant.
Integrierte Schädlingsbekämpfung durch innovatives Insektizid
Spirotetramat gehört zur Bayer eigenen chemischen Klasse der
Ketoenole und bietet dem Landwirt ein hoch wirksames Mittel
gegen eine breite Palette saugender Insekten. Dank seiner
Langzeitwirkung schützt Spirotetramat Kern- und Steinobst,
Zitrusfrüchte, Trauben, Nüsse, Gemüse und Kartoffeln vor
Schädlingen wie Blattläusen, Zikaden, Rebläusen, Wollläusen,
Weißen Fliegen und Schildläusen. Das Einzigartige an dieser
Substanz ist, dass sich der systemische Wirkstoff im gesamten
Pflanzenapparat, in den jungen Trieben ebenso wie im Blatt- und
Wurzelgewebe, auf und ab bewegt und sich dadurch gleichmäßig und
dauerhaft verteilt. Die Wirkung gegen Insektenlarven entfaltet
sich über die Nahrungsaufnahme.
Bayer CropScience empfiehlt Spirotetramat für den Einsatz in
integrierten Pflanzen-schutzprogrammen, da es für Nutzinsekten
wie zum Beispiel Marienkäfer und Netzflügler ungefährlich ist.
Darüber hinaus weist das innovative Insektizid ein günstiges
Abbauverhalten und Rückstandsprofil auf, wodurch Spirotetramat
ein hervorragend geeignetes Mittel mit Blick auf die hohen
Qualitätsstandards der internationalen Lebensmittelkette ist.
Der Wirkstoff ist gleichzeitig auch gut geeignet für ein

Resistenzmanagement: Im Wechsel mit Spirotetramat können andere
