After many years of leadership and
service to the plant science industry, Dr. Christian Verschueren
announced yesterday that he is stepping down as Director General
of CropLife International
on November 30, 2007 to pursue other interests.
Howard Minigh, President & CEO of CropLife International
congratulated Verschueren on his many years of leadership and
dedicated service to the organization. “Christian has
established the CropLife brand, strengthening dialogue with key
stakeholders in civil society, international organizations,
governments and the media. He has been an eloquent ambassador
for the industry in many forums. We appreciate his hard work on
behalf of the plant science industry and his relentless focus on
the benefits these technologies offer to agricultural
productivity, environmental protection and global development.”
CropLife International has undergone a transformation that began
with the reorganization of the association in 2006. The role of
Director General will not be replaced. Several new personnel
have been added recently to the CropLife International team.
Denise Dewar (Executive Director of Plant Biotechnology), Craig
Rickard (Advocacy and Regulatory Affairs Plant Biotechnology),
Michelle Lopez (Intellectual Property and Trade, Crop Protection
and Plant Biotechnology) and D’Arcy Quinn (Anti-counterfeiting,
Crop Protection) have joined the staff and add strength to the
team to deal with key plant science industry issues.
CropLife International is the
global federation representing the plant science industry. It
supports a network of regional and national associations in 91
countries, and is led by companies such as BASF, Bayer
CropScience, Dow AgroSciences, DuPont, FMC, Monsanto, Sumitomo
and Syngenta. CropLife International promotes the benefits of
crop protection and biotechnology products, their importance to
sustainable agriculture and food production, and their
responsible use through stewardship activities. |
