.

Research Triangle Park, North Carolina
October 5, 2007

Bayer CropScience is pleased that the US Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has completed its thorough and diligent investigation without concluding that Bayer CropScience violated any legal requirement with respect to low-level presence of genetically engineered rice in commercial rice. In its press release issued October 5, 2007, USDA states that “based on the findings of the investigation, APHIS will not be pursuing enforcement action against Bayer CropScience.”

USDA also reconfirmed in its report that “federal authorities have concluded that LibertyLink rice poses no threat to food safety, human health, or the environment”.
