DeWitt, Arkansas
August 14, 2008

In an ongoing effort to provide the latest in advanced soybean technologies, Hornbeck Agricultural Group today announced the addition of molecular biologist Dr. Bo Zhang to the staff of Worldwide SoyTechnologies.

Dr. Zhang is responsible for the development of the company’s advanced molecular lab and will conduct marker-assisted selection on specific soybean traits using polymerase chain reaction based strategies. Such an approach will allow for the identification of desirable traits and help bring those varieties to market faster.

She will also analyze seeds for trait and varietal purity to ensure that only the highest quality products are distributed. Worldwide SoyTechnologies, located in DeWitt, Arkansas, is an industry leading soybean research center that focuses on developing a wide selection of superior quality soybean varieties.

“Our goal at Worldwide SoyTechnologies is to provide our customers with the latest in advanced seed technology,” said Jon Hornbeck, a principal in Hornbeck Agricultural Group. “Dr. Zhang’s experience in soybean breeding and genetics is a wonderful asset to our work, and we’re confidant that her addition will help lead us into new and exciting territory.”

Dr. Zhang, a native of Jilin, China holds a B.S. in Horticulture from Shenyang Agricultural University, a M.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences in Beijing, China, and a Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Arkansas.

Prior to joining Hornbeck Agricultural, Dr. Zhang was a postdoctoral research associate in the Soybean Breeding and Genetics Program at the University of Arkansas. In that position, she conducted research on food-type soybean breeding, seed quality traits, and molecular markers development.

The Hornbeck Agricultural Group includes Hornbeck Seed Company, Arkansas SoyEnergy Group, LLC, and Worldwide SoyTechnologies, LLC. The principals of Hornbeck Agricultural Group are brothers Jon, Troy, and Jeff Hornbeck, all of DeWitt. More information is available online at www.hbkseed.com and www.soytec.us
