 The Vibha Seed Group was
established in 1995 by ICRISAT researcher-turned-entrepreneur
Mr. P. Vidyasagar with a vision of empowering Indian farmers by
providing superior quality seeds of highly customized products.
Primarily, a Research & Development (R&D)-based premier private
research organization for crop genetics and hybrid seeds, the
group today is one of the leading and fast-growing organizations
in India. Through its twelve years of growth and success, the
Group leads the Indian market with its R&D, production and
distribution of high quality seeds of 110 products in 12 field
and 14 vegetable crops. The services of the organization reaches
out to a cross cultural ambience of 18 Indian states with their
diverse cropping patterns through a channel network of 3000
distributors and 2.5 lakh dealers so as to cater to an
established and ever-increasing customer base of almost 75 lakh
happy farmers.
The research activities of Vibha Seeds (The Vibha Seed Group’s
flagship company) have extended and diversified into its sister
concerns – Nusun Genetic Research Limited – with specific R&D in
field crops and special emphasis on the mandate crops - cotton
and sunflower, Seed Innovations Private Limited – with strong
breeding programmes for hybrid development in vegetable crops,
Centromere Bio-solutions Private Limited - for crop
biotechnology research and services and finally, Divine
Horticultural Farms Private Limited – a new venture specializing
in turf grass, micro-tubers, ornamentals and seedlings.
Vibha Seed Group considers (i) its R&D, which confers
competitive advantages to the farmers, and (ii) its scientific
activities, as the key success factors in developing and
commercializing several superior hybrids. The gene bank
maintains a large number of diverse germplasm accessions for its
genetic enhancement and multi-disciplinary crop improvement
research programmes.
Vibha Seed Group commissions and maintains state-of-the art R&D
facilities for ongoing research processes. Enduring research
activities are carried out in 800 acres of research farms around
Hyderabad, 12 out station R& D locations and 22 multi-location
testing centers across the Country. The Group has also developed
sound research collaboration with several national and
international institutes like ICRISAT, AVRDC, CYMMIT, IRRI,
Kasetsart University (Thailand), North Carolina State University
(NC), ACPFG (Australia) and others.
The community at Vibha seed Group comprises professional and
dedicated scientists with international experience, committed
breeders, agronomists, bio-technologists and seed technologists
for seed production, and enthusiastic & talented marketing
professionals. The Company is credited with an efficient

proud to have 1100 employees on board and continues to register

company's technical staff is stationed in the districts and
villages to interact with dealers, retailers and farmers, and
educating them on the products as well as providing them
technical guidance on crop management activities.
The Vibha Seed Group has established an impressive share in
Indian seed production scenario. The Group has commissioned
50,000 acres for seed production by a highly specialized and
competent group of 25,000 seed growers. To substantiate the
reputation of quality assurance, a rigorous seed quality
assurance system is followed at the group’s highly modernized
65,000 sqft seed conditioning plant.
In line with reinforcement of infrastructure so as to meet the
daunting challenges ahead, the Vibha seed Group has inaugurated
its Corporate Office – “Inspire” at Hitec City, Madhapur,
Hyderabad on 7th August, 2008. The Honourable Minister for
Agriculture, Government of Andhra Pradesh, Shri N Raghuveera
Reddy graced this grand occasion as the Chief Guest and
dedicated the imposing building to the Group.
The Group has an investment projection of Rs. 200 crores to
support its immediate and mid-term future growth. It is
commissioning six new ultramodern units for seed conditioning in
the confines of 9,50,000 sqft at Jedcherla, Mahbubnagar dt.,
Andhra Pradesh and a bio-tech laboratory in an area of 75,000
sft. at Sangareddy, Andhra Pradesh. It is now poised to expand
its commercial horizons globally to China, Australia, Thailand,
Bangladesh, Myanmar, Philippines, Ethiopia, Egypt and
middle-east countries. |
