New products and services provide innovative solutions to grower needs

Corn, soybean and cereals growers are invited to learn more about new products and services from Bayer CropScience LP, as part of its Helping You Grow initiative, during the 2008 Commodity Classic. This annual event is slated for Feb. 28 through March 1 at the Opryland Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee.

Bayer CropScience is expecting to launch a number of new crop protection and production technologies in the next few years, and is offering informal grower sessions on products and agronomic issues at its Commodity Classic exhibit, booth No. 833.

“We are focused on helping growers achieve better yield and crop-quality results by protecting their seed hybrids and varieties from planting to harvest, implementing weed-management practices and eliminating pest issues,” says Tim Zurliene, director of marketing for herbicides and fungicides.

New product offerings for the upcoming crop season include Huskie™ herbicide for cereals and Laudis™ herbicide for corn. The company plans to launch LibertyLink® soybeans in 2009.

Company personnel also want to extend an invitation to growers to check their email messages from home and relax between activities at the Bayer CropScience Internet Café, which will be located at Delta Lobby B of the Opryland Hotel. The Café will provide light refreshments free-of-charge to all attending growers and their families.

Bayer CropScience also is hosting a brief presentation at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 29, 2008, at its booth, to congratulate the 2007 National Corn Growers Association National Corn Yield Contest winners. For the second year in a row, all nine first-place divisional contest winners used Poncho® 250 or Poncho 1250 seed-applied insecticide.

“These nine growers have diverse environmental conditions, pest spectrums and production practices,” Zurliene says. “Yet, they still share some common ground — they maximize their yield potential by using Poncho 250 or Poncho 1250 for broad-spectrum insect protection.”
