Plant
Bioscience Ltd. (PBL) and
INRA Transfert, the technology transfer arm of INRA, have
signed an agreement for PBL to market INRA technologies in plant
science through PBL’s highly successful “TEC Club”. PBL’s TEC
Club provides companies in the agbiotech sector who are
subscribers with early, fee-free access to new technologies
emerging from public sector research in plant biotechnology.
Under the agreement PBL will promote selected INRA technologies
through its TEC Club programme, in return for a share in the
successful commercialisation of the technologies by its TEC Club
members. The alliance represents a new dimension in cooperation
between two of Europe’s principal channels for delivering
emerging public sector plant science innovations and
intellectual property into commercial use.
PBL is a technology transfer company established
in 1994 and owned by the John
Innes Centre, Norwich, UK,
The Sainsbury Laboratory, Norwich, UK and
The Biotechnology and
Biological Sciences Research Council which is the UK
government’s principal funder of public sector biological
science. PBL manages and develops intellectual property from
many public research organisations around the world.
INRA Transfert is the technology transfer company of
INRA, the
National Agricultural Research Institute, which is Europe’s
largest agricultural research institute. INRA carries out
leading research for better food and nutrition, competitive and
sustainable agricultural practices and the preservation of the
environment.
