DuPont announces expansion at Pioneer Hi-Bred production facility in York, Nebraska, part of ongoing effort to meet high demand for Pioneer brand seed corn

Des Moines Iowa
January 24, 2008

DuPont today announced plans to expand its Pioneer Hi-Bred production facility in York, Nebraska. The $13 million investment includes adding a fifth dryer and significantly increases bulk storage, which will boost seed production capacity at the facility by 20 percent.

The expansion is one of many steps DuPont is taking to ensure it meets rising demand for Pioneer® brand products.

"Our order position has increased over last year and we are meeting that demand because we have the infrastructure in place to do so," said DuPont Vice President and General Manager and Pioneer President Paul Schickler. "To meet the growing demand for our products in the coming years, we have to further strengthen our seed production capacity and technology."

York will be one of two North American locations with five dryers. This will enhance the turnaround time in the drying process and also increase overall corn seed production for the company. The storage expansion will double the current bulk storage capacity at York. Both projects will be complete by the 2008 harvest.

Additional expansion projects are under consideration for Pioneer locations throughout North America.
